and a little eye of newt...
Jun. 20th, 2006 01:19 pmK, I'm in the middle of making my encautic paint:
It was when I started counting my rotations over my mixture that I realised:
I'm not a freakin' artist but a potion master....
(btw... there are more steps... I thought I would be brief... ^_^ )
- weighing out my wax
then melting it in my circa 1970 electric fry pan to 190 degrees (no more)
then measuring the damar crystals to match the weight of wax in order to come up with a 1:8 ratio (my preferred mix for any other encautic-ors out there :) ).
Crushing the said crystals with my homemade mortar and pestle to dust
then carefully raising the temperature to 210 degrees so the crystals will melt properly
dusting the surface of the melted wax until all crystals are saturated in the wax
Then stirring slow clockwise then counterclockwise until smooth
